Matt Damon hasn’t hosted Saturday Night Live in over 15 years, but that long break didn’t stop the actor from showing strong comedic chops over the weekend. Damon appeared in nearly every skit throughout his episode of SNL, but one of those skits stood out above the rest.
In one of the pre-taped video skits from the show, Damon and a bunch of the SNL cast, including Kenan Thompson, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, and Pete Davidson, hilariously impersonated celebrities doing an “audition” to be the new Academy Awards host for the next ceremony.
There were a lot of great impressions during the skit—including Terry Crews, Michael Strahan, Rachel Brosnahan, Kanye West, and Tiffany Haddish—but Damon’s were extremely spot-on. Damon first did an impersonation of his new boat buddy Chris Hemsworth, before taking on one of Matthew McConaughey.
The one of McConaughey was so good that he might even be able to slide into McConaughey’s next role and no one would notice.
Watch Damon crush these impressions in the skit:
Damon will next be on the big screen in Ford v. Ferrari alongside Christian Bale, which will be released on June 28, 2019.
